Features

WebStorm offers a range of features that makes it a flexible tool for your company while providing a rich experience for the end user. Below are brief descriptions of just some of the features.

Real-Time Duplicate Checker

It is common for more than one person to have a similar idea. WebStorm includes a real-time duplicate checker that searches for similar ideas as a new idea is being composed. If a similar idea is found, the user can choose to comment and add their input to the existing idea.

Microsoft Office Integration

Easily export data into Excel for offline viewing, sorting and reporting.

Video - Automatic Conversion to FLV

Some ideas are best expressed visually. WebStorm now offers Video Upload capability. When submitting ideas, users can attach a video file that is automatically converted to the Flash Video format. The video is immediately viewable as part of the idea.

Single Sign-On

Allows for seamless authentication. Companies can use their existing user authentication systems to control access to an internal WebStorm campaign. Employees do not have to create a separate username and password. WebStorm can be integrated with single sign-on mechanisms such as SiteMinder, Active Directory and others, and offers enhanced support for SAML 1.1.

Public and Private WebStorms

WebStorms can easily be configured for either Public Campaigns or Private. Your goal may be to solicit input from your customers, or perhaps gather cost-saving ideas from your employees. You have several options with a WebStorm campaign:

  • Make a campaign open to the public and allow anonymous submissions
  • Make a campaign open to the public but require registration to submit ideas
  • Restrict registration to company employees
  • Restrict registration to a pre-selected group
  • Require users to sign on through your company’s authentication systems, using Single Sign-On (SSO)

Block Users and Remove Offensive Content

Any inappropriate content can be quickly removed by an administrator. If necessary, a user can be blocked from participating in the community.

RSS Feeds

RSS feeds can be enabled on a per-campaign basis. Users can then subscribe and receive updates as they come in. The data can also be captured and displayed on internal or external websites.

Dashboard reports

Get a quick look at the activity in your campaign. View the number of ideas over time and track the status of ideas.

Public and Private Attachments

Users can attach images, graphs, photos, spreadsheets, video, and more to their idea. An attached image will display as part of the idea. You can also allow private attachments, which would only be viewable by designated evaluators.

User Profiles

Experience has shown that the sense of community is enriched when users share information about themselves. Users may upload a photo and provide information such as work experience and their areas of expertise. Not only does this help increase participation, but it puts the “networking” in social networking. Users can reach out to other users for collaboration on ideas.

Custom categories and tags

Create categories to assist in evaluation and management of ideas. Assign experts per category. Allow users to &quo;tag&quo; their idea with keywords. Sort ideas by category, status or tags.

Search

Find ideas by using a keyword search on titles and content. Search the database for specific users.
