Frequently Asked Questions

What is WebStorm?

WebStorm is a cost-effective Idea Collection and Ranking Portal that uses Enterprise 2.0 technology to collect ideas from customers, employees, or partners. It is a powerful tool that facilitates innovation within a company. It has a broad reach, with an intuitive interface, and social networking features designed to engage the end-user and encourage participation.

Who can benefit from using WebStorm?

Any company that wants to reach out to its customers or employees. It is ideal for soliciting new product ideas or getting feedback on existing services. It can be used to identify cost-saving opportunities within an organization. Establish an on-going dialogue with your customers - keep them informed and build a community around your brand.

How do I host a WebStorm?

WebStorm is an On-Demand service. The software is installed and maintained by Brightidea personnel. The service is reliable, secure, and requires minimal capital investment. New releases and updates are automatically installed at the Brightidea host location, with no involvement of a company's IT department. Both administration and end-user participation is through the internet, using any standard web browser.

Can we incorporate our company branding?

Yes. WebStorm can be customized with your company's logos, graphics, color scheme and typography.

Can I open my WebStorm to the public?

Yes. WebStorm can easily be set up for public use. For example, you may want to get customer feedback on an existing product line. Or ask for customers to prioritize new features for a software release.

And can they be made private?

Yes. A common use for WebStorm is to solicit ideas from within the company. The application provides a great way to receive input from experienced, knowledgable people who might not normally have a voice in product development using traditional methods. You may restrict participation to your company domain, or construct a specific user list to organize campaigns by departments or roles.

Can I block users and hide offensive content?

Yes. Individual users may easily be barred from participating in the community. Any inappropriate material can be quickly removed or hidden from view by an administrator.

How do I manage the ideas that are collected?

Using the "wisdom of the crowd", the better ideas naturally rise to the top of the list. This allows management to initially focus on evaluating the most promising ideas. In addition, the Brightidea back-end system incorporates a team review process, where designated experts can evaluate ideas using numerical scoring and subjective assessments. Also available is a Supervisor Review setting, appropriate when one person is assigned to evaluate and manage the idea flow.
